Into the Volcano
Every once in a while an amazing adventure comes our way. This is it. For those seeing awe, adrenaline and excitement… this experience is for you.
Welcome to Nicaragua. Welcome to Masaya.
Masaya is a caldera located in Masaya, Nicaragua, 20 km south of the capital Managua. It is Nicaragua’s first and largest national park, and one of 78 protected areas of Nicaragua. The complex volcano is composed of a nested set of calderas and craters, the largest of which is Las Sierras shield volcano and caldera.
Our expeditionary adventure guides have extensive knowledge of volcanic landscapes with the most direct route inside the Masaya volcano, down into the lava lake, to make your volcanic adventure as remarkable as possible.
Behind the rain and clouds typically surrounding the Masaya volcano is one of the most amazing and under-appreciated wonders of the world. A lava lake 50 meters across, lies at the bottom of a three hundred meter plummet where few have ever set foot.
The volcano is often completely shrouded by cloud, but when Masaya wants to be seen, nothing can compare to the view. The size of the crater will never cease to amaze anyone as the rear face extends far into the sky. A unique experience in an extreme environment.
This is a once in a lifetime event and is being led by X’er Nik Halik who has trained as an astronaut, been the bow of the Titanic, and stood at the mouth of the Ambryn Volcano. Even more amazing will be celebrity level explorers that will also be on the expedition including one of the Godfather’s of gaming (who also went to space) and others.
Easy flight to Managua and a short ride to this volcanic region. Everything is included once you hit the ground – incredible nature, base camp, food and more!
